Prof. Dr. Tamas Komives academician, president of ECyS, is the principal editor of Ecocycles. His fields of research are related to closed agricultural systems (i.e. aquaponics) and the effects of pesticides, persistent organic pollutants, and invasive species in the environment.
We are open for cooperation (our PIC is 929505411)
Our Participant Identification Code (PIC) was issued by the Education and Culture Directorate-General and the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission in order to submit or take part in a proposal for the EAC/EACEA programmes."
Report from our first conference
The conference was held on the campus of the University of Palermo and focussed on the theoretical and practical aspects of ecological cycles and their relationship with sustainability.Conference chairs were Prof. Dr. Jonathan Gressel (Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel), Prof. Dr. Tamas Nemeth (General Secretary of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary), and Prof. Dr. Carmelo D'Azzi (Department of Agroenvironmental Systems, University of Palermo, Italy).
Basic research together with field applications were emphasized, along with laboratory, pilot, and modeling studies leading to innovative approaches. Platform and poster presentations were selected by the Scientific Advisory Board of the conference from the abstracts submitted for consideration.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR! Plans for the second conference of ECyS
The 2nd European Ecocycles Conference will be held in Pecs, Hungary, in September, this year: the exact date will soon be announced.
Ecological cycles are the various self-regulating processes that recycle the earth's limited resources - water, carbon, nitrogen, and other elements - that are essential to sustain life. The Eco Cycle strategy is based on these processes and is aimed at bringing about a society with non-toxic and resource-efficient cycles. Understanding how local cycles fit into global cycles is essential to make the best possible management decisions to maintain ecosystem health and productivity for now and the future. Our Society has been created by researchers studying these cycles.
Our goal is to promote scientific dialogue in order to allow for
greater scientific collaboration. We wish to unify scholars, coordinate
research in the area of ecological cycles, exchange information,
publish works, and award prizes.
The aims of the Society are the following:
a) to promote the knowledge concerning ecological cycles and to further its development;
b) to facilitate collaboration, research, education, information, technical development, practical applications and laws concerning ecological cycles and thier direct and indirect impacts;
c) to create a platform for the persons, associations, societies and institutions with an interest in ecological cycles;
d) to elect the bodies responsible for organizing the European Ecocycles Conferences;
e) to encourage collaboration with other areas related to environmental and health issues.
Any private individual who expresses the wish to be a member and who declares commitment to the aims of the Association may be granted membership. Any collective body which expresses the wish to be a member and which declares commitment to the aims of the Association may be granted membership.Approval of applications for membership will be voted on by the Committee. On the recommendation of the Committee, the General Assembly may elect as Honorary Members individuals who have made utstanding contributions to the Association; Honorary Members shall be exempt from paying membership fees. Continued membership is conditional on the payment of fees for the current financial year. The General Assembly may grant discounted fees to students or retired members. The members must provide their e-mail address and inform the Committee of any changes in their e-mail address.
We are asking our members to renew their membership with the Society. Certainly, in order to thrive as a non-governmental scientific organization, besides new ideas, we need new members. When talking to colleagues, neighbors, friends and relatives, suggest they visit our Society’s website (http://www.ecocycles.eu) and encourage them to join the Society and do their part to convey our messages. Bring their attention to the purchasing of our Society membership. If they do not already know, our Society membership comes at a mere cost of 15 Euros (students and seniors 10 Euros, please check http://www.ecocycles.eu/ECyS-MembershipFees.html). As a member, they will be entitled to benefits and privileges, such as entitlement to members-only events, priority in registration for events over non-members, and opportunity to vote and have a say at the Society’s programs.
We are looking forward to receiving your manuscript and to meeting you at upcoming events, your participation in the Society in the New Year, and thank you for your continued support and involvement. We wish you the best in 2017!
As a new organization our most important activity is to build membership, and design and create the working structure of ECyS.
As a follow up to the First European Ecocycles Conference (held successfully on July 29 - August 2, 2013, in Palermo, Italy) and the ECyS Workshop on Green Energy and Sustainable Management of Cultural Landscapes (November 20-23, 2015, Gyongyos, Hungary>>) we started to organize our Second Conference in September, this year, in Pecs, Hungary.
In addition, we are working hard to edit the latest issue (Volume 3, Issue 2) of our scientific journal "ECOCYCLES" (see the Call for Papers above).
Join us - enjoy the benefits!
